Lamia Moghnieh
Lamia Moghnieh is a Research Fellow in Medical Anthropology and Mental Health Worker at the Department of English, Germanic and Romance Studies (ENGEROM) at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. Former EUME fellow in Berlin, and former ACSS fellow in Beirut. Her research focuses on the cultural and social history of psychiatry and its relationship with the formations of mental illness, the individual and society in the MENA region. In her current research project, she traces the cultural authority of modern psychiatry in Lebanon, through archival research of records from the Lebanon Hospital for Mental and Nervous Disorders and ethnographic research on contemporary psychiatric practices.
